Mandy Bishop
Mandy is a global actress, singer, writer and producer. She is renowned for the annual WHARF REVUE, both touring and for ABC TV (Sydney Theatre Company/Soft Tread Enterprises) playing Tanya Plibersek, Jacqui Lambie and Anthony Albanese and many more. Her ‘Julia Gillard’ started on Channel 7’s series DOUBLE TAKE and became AT HOME WITH JULIA for the ABC - winning the Equity Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Award and nominated for AACTA Best Comedy Series and two AWGIE’s.
Mandy studied a B.Mus at UNE (Peter Hall Drama Award), then WAAPA (Leslie Anderson Award for most outstanding graduate).
Recent theatre credits include BITE MY CHILLI (A Capella quintet), LOSING LOUIS (Ensemble), THE PILLOWMAN (Belvoir - 5 Syd Theatre Awards nominations), and OPTIMISM (Malthouse/Sydney Festival/STC). Also a patron in independent theatre, this include credits with Old Fitzroy (most recently the incredible CHICKEN IN A BISCUIT), Darlinghurst Theatre, Neglected Musicals/Hayes Theatre, and Griffin Theatre.
Selected TV credits include BLUE HEELERS (this will be a reunion with the great Lisa McClune!), HEARTBREAK HIGH, THE UPSIDE DOWN SHOW (Logie & Parents Choice Awards winning, with the UMBILICAL BROTHERS), MY PLACE (AACTA Award Best Series), RAKE, HOME & AWAY, REVIEW WITH MYLES BARLOW (Best Comedy Series S1 & S2 AFI Awards), THE OUTLAW MICHAEL HOWE (MEAA Best Series Ensemble Award), DROP DEAD WEIRD (with RTE Ireland), PENELOPE K, BY THE WAY (ASTRA Series award), LAW & ORDER SVU, and CHAPERONES (pilot with AUNTY DONNA).
Mandy just finished on the feature film FANGS, starring Joel Edgerton and Toni Collette. Other select films include VULNERABLE, FRESH AIR, and NEXT IS THE ONE. Her own short film, THE BIG CHECK OUT won the International Women's Film Fest panel Award.
Mandy is currently rehearsing David Williamson’s new work THE SOCIAL LADDER, for the Ensemble Theatre Company.
